Step into a weekend of anime, Japanese pop culture and community at Anime NebrasKon 2026, returning to the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs.

Hosted by the Nebraska Japanese Animation Society, Anime NebrasKon, also known as NebKon, has been bringing fans together since 2004. The convention is built around connecting people through Japanese animation and pop culture while combining entertainment, education and activities for attendees of all ages.

The 2026 theme is Festival of Spirits, bringing together the worlds of the living and the supernatural through inspiration from Japan’s mythical yōkai. Attendees can expect a celebration influenced by trickster foxes, wandering spirits, demon hunters and other elements of Japanese folklore, creating a weekend that blends the fun, spooky and unusual.

Beyond its theme, Anime NebrasKon is designed to create an accessible, inclusive and welcoming convention experience. The event has continued to grow over the years, welcoming more than 7,000 attendees in both 2024 and 2025, and offers fans an opportunity to connect with others who share an interest in anime and Japanese pop culture.

The convention also places an emphasis on giving back to the community. Each year, Anime NebrasKon supports a different charitable organization, with proceeds from its charity auction benefiting the selected cause.

The event is open to all ages, held in person and includes free parking.
