From Press Passes to Pelvic Thrusts… Why I’m Dancing the ‘Time Warp’ for a Cause

Remember when I said at $500 I’d spill the tea on my YES! Dance for a Chance song?

Well, fam, the wait is over… drumroll please.

We’re taking it back — way back — with “Time Warp” from The Rocky Horror Picture Show.

For those who don’t know, Rocky Horror is that cult-classic musical that’s been delightfully weirding people out since the ’70s. It’s bold, campy, unapologetically fun, and has this insane community vibe where everyone’s in on the joke.

Honestly, it’s kind of perfect for me and for Lozafina because what is storytelling if not taking risks, breaking norms, and pulling people into an experience they’ll never forget?

And yes, expect the jump to the left, step to the right, hands on the hips, pelvic thrust realness.

Hey, babe, that’s art.

Guess what!?! We also hit $1,200 (!!!), thank you to all of my amazing supporters, which means it’s time to introduce you to the brilliant person making sure I don’t trip over my own two feet.

Meet Tyrese Grace:

“I was born and raised in Orlando, Florida and started learning hip-hop at 19. My first classes were with Motiv Dance Studio, yes, the crew that made it on World of Dance. Hip-hop is my main lane, but I moved to Omaha in 2020 and started learning ballroom dance….

I’ve got six years of dance under my belt and four years of teaching. My goal in every class is simple: smiles and progress. I’m a big academic at heart, and I love teaching. You’ll see pretty quickly how passionate I am about it.”

Can we just pause to say how dope that is?

Tyrese is bringing the perfect combo of skill, patience, and hype energy. Huge love also goes to Dr. Natasha Partridge-Butler, Founder, CEO, and Artistic Director at Pear Tree Performing Arts, for letting us rehearse in her beautiful studio.

So, What’s Next?

When we hit $1,500, I’ll drop a rehearsal clip from Pear Tree Performing Arts so you can see me (press passes traded in for dance shoes) fully embracing this year’s “Lights, Camera, Dance!” theme. Think iconic songs, cinematic moves, and just enough costume flair to make you wonder, “Wait… is this Netflix-ready?”

And because this is for a cause close to my heart, every dollar goes to support Youth Emergency Services (YES), helping young people in our community who are experiencing crisis.
