Lights, Camera… Dance? Yep, That’s Me.

So here’s something I never thought I’d be writing…

Yours truly is swapping out a notepad and press pass for sequins and dance shoes.

Nervous? You bet.

Excited? Absolutely.

On Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, I’ll be stepping into the spotlight at The Astro in La Vista for Youth Emergency Services’ Dance for a Chance, a night where Omaha’s movers, shakers (and apparently me!) take the stage for one big reason: to support young people in our community who are facing crisis.

This year’s theme is “Lights, Camera, Dance!” which means movie magic all the way.

Picture cinematic choreography, iconic tracks, and just enough flair to make you whisper, “did she really just do that?”

But here’s the real deal

Dance for a Chance isn’t just about seeing me and a crew of local leaders trying our best not to trip under the spotlight. It’s about the work YES does every day with nearly 800 young people a year, meeting them wherever they are in life and helping them find their next step forward.

At the Drop-In Center, teens can grab a meal, shower, even wash clothes. If they need safety, YES’ Emergency Shelter provides about 60 days of stability and support. From there, programs like the Maternity Group Home, Transitional Living, and Rapid Rehousing help young people raise families, live independently, and, most importantly, thrive.

It’s called the Continuum of Care, and it’s proof that small steps really can change lives.

Now back to me (and you) 🎶

I need your help with a soundtrack. Got a favorite movie-worthy jam? Drop it in the comments or slide into my DMs. The catch? As soon as we raise $500 in donations, I’ll announce the winning song.

And, hey! You don’t have to just cheer me on. Here’s how you can join in!

No, really, I need help raising money! I really want to support these amazing young people who just need a chance.

Curtain Call

I won’t be dancing solo.

Sharing the floor with me is an all-star cast of local legends: Nicole M. Bianchi CSP®, Shannon Bingham, Don Carter, Brett Coburn, Kellie Harry, Steven Krambeck, and Hannah Patterson.

So mark your calendars, Omaha. Oct. 17 is your chance to watch us swap our day jobs for the spotlight, all while raising funds for YES. Because sometimes, the best way to change lives… is to dance like everyone’s watching.
