Making Space Dance Festival: Friday Performance

  • Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement – Slosburg Hall 1115 Dodge Street Omaha, Nebraska, 68102 United States (map)

Experience an evening of original movement and contemporary dance at the Making Space Dance Festival, presented by tbd. dance collective in partnership with Omaha Performing Arts.

Now in its sixth year, Making Space is a biennial performance festival created to give movement artists a platform to present new work, explore the process of developing choreography and connect with artists and audiences across different communities. The festival brings together local, regional and national choreographers while also offering educational opportunities that encourage conversation and collaboration around dance.

Friday night’s performance will feature five original choreographic works, with each piece running approximately seven to 10 minutes. Featured artists include Nicole Von Arx from Brooklyn and Cully, Switzerland; Jenny Yang from Omaha; David Calhoun from New York City; Olivia Emert from Kansas City; and BLiPSWITCH from Austin.

The evening will take place in Slosburg Hall at the Tenaska Center for Arts Engagement, giving audiences an opportunity to experience a range of choreographic styles and perspectives in one performance. A bar will be available outside the hall from 6:30–7:45 PM, with the performance beginning at 7:30 PM.

Performance lighting will be used, but there will be no strobing or flashing effects, and earplugs will be available at the check-in table for guests who would like them.

The event is free to attend, although attendees can choose to make a donation during registration. Street parking and nearby garage parking are available, with guests advised that parking fees may apply.
