Lozafina Is Heading to the Classroom, Teaching the Stuff They Don’t Put in Textbooks
I’ve spent more than 20 years telling stories, building brands, navigating newsrooms, helping organizations communicate through big moments and, eventually, building a business of my own.
Now I get to bring those lessons into the classroom.
I’m incredibly excited to share that I’ll be teaching a full lineup of business development, marketing, and communications courses at Metropolitan Community College during the 2026–2027 academic year.
And what makes this opportunity even more meaningful is where these classes are happening.
I’ll be working with MCC’s Small Business Development Center at The Ashton in Millwork Commons, a growing hub designed specifically to help entrepreneurs and small business owners start, strengthen, and grow their businesses.
Earlier this year, the center received its federal designation from the U.S. Small Business Administration, connecting MCC to a nationwide network of nearly 1,000 Small Business Development Centers. It is only the second federally designated SBDC in Nebraska.
Small business IS big business in Nebraska.
According to the SBA, 99.1% of Nebraska businesses are small businesses, and small businesses account for 48.3% of employment in our state. Those numbers represent thousands of entrepreneurs, employers, and people with an idea they’re trying to turn into something sustainable.
And they need resources and practical support.
And “practical” is exactly how I want these classes to feel.
We’re going to talk about the things business owners actually have to figure out every day:
Creating Exceptional Customer Experience
Consumer Marketing & Brand
Social Media Marketing That Works
Email Marketing & List Building for Local Markets
Brand Identity & Storytelling
Public Relations & Earned Media for Small Business
These aren’t just subjects I teach. They’re things my team and I work through every day at Lozafina.
How do you build a brand people remember? How do you tell your story when you don’t have a massive advertising budget? How do you earn media coverage? What should you actually be doing on social media? How do you turn a customer into someone who tells other people about your business?
I want people to leave these classes with ideas they can put to work the very next morning.
My first class, Creating Exceptional Customer Experience, kicks off Sept. 8, followed by Consumer Marketing & Brand beginning Oct. 6, and Social Media Marketing That Works beginning Nov. 3.
And yes, there will be more throughout 2027.
I’ve always believed some of the best business education comes from people willing to share what they’ve learned by actually doing the work. That includes the wins, the mistakes, and all the lessons in between.
I’m excited to share mine.
If you’re an entrepreneur, small business owner, marketing professional, or someone with an idea you’ve been thinking about turning into something bigger, come join me.
