Explore movement in a new way with INTERFLOW: Open Contemporary Movements and Improvisations, a free workshop led by Kansas City-based choreographer and artistic director Olivia Emert.
Presented as part of the Making Space 2026 festival by tbd. dance collective, INTERFLOW is an open-level movement class designed to help participants experience movement more deeply through memory, sensation and creative exploration.
The class begins with a guided meditation and body scan before moving into an improvisational warm-up. Participants will then use memory, visualization and task-based prompts to explore their own movement language. Through these exercises, the workshop encourages participants to connect movement with emotions, imagery, environments and personal experiences.
INTERFLOW is designed to be welcoming and adaptable. Participants are encouraged to make choices that support their own bodies and movement styles, and different adaptations are welcomed throughout the class. No previous dance experience is required, making the workshop accessible to a wide range of participants.
Olivia Emert is a choreographer and artistic director based in Kansas City. Her work explores emotional awareness, tactile partnering and the creation of tangible environments through movement. She holds a BFA in Performance and Choreography from the University of Missouri–Kansas City Conservatory and has presented and developed work through organizations and festivals across the region.
The event is free to attend, although participants may choose to make a donation when registering.
