Professionals working with children, families and victims of violence are invited to come together for two days of learning, collaboration and professional development at the Northeast Nebraska Family Violence Summit.
The summit is a collaboration between Faith Health Child Advocacy Center, Northeast Community College’s Criminal Justice and Human Services departments, and Bright Horizons. The event is designed to provide investigative, treatment and human service professionals with information and practical insight into the impact of family violence on individuals, children and communities.
Attendees will hear from national and local experts working across areas including domestic violence, child abuse, sexual assault and human trafficking. Sessions are intended to strengthen professional knowledge, encourage collaboration across disciplines and provide tools that can support professionals in their work with victims and families.
The summit welcomes a broad range of professionals, including those working in child welfare, law enforcement, prosecution, mental health, probation and parole, in-home services, advocacy, first response and healthcare, as well as others who serve children and families affected by violence.
Programming begins with breakfast and registration, followed by opening remarks and a range of educational sessions. Topics include survivor-informed approaches to human trafficking and family violence, with an emphasis on improving investigations, healthcare responses, advocacy and multidisciplinary collaboration..
