Made in the Plains: Opening Weekend Program

The Joslyn Art Museum is hosting a special event to celebrate the opening of it’s new exhibit, “Made in the Great Plains,” on Sunday, June 8. The exhibit will be on display from June 7 through September 21 and features 20 artists from the Plains, including Nebraska, Iowa and South Dakota.

During this event, hear from the three curators who developed the exhibit: Taylor J. Acosta, chief curator & director of collections; Karin Campbell, Phil Willson Curator of Contemporary Art; and Annika K. Johnson, Stacy and Bruce Simon Curator of Native American Art. They will offer an overview of the exhibition and insights about how these selected artists’ work responds to our current moment.

Dedeaux-Norris (Iowa City, IA), Nancy Friedemann-Sánchez (Lincoln, NE), Neil Griess (Omaha, NE), Becky Grismer (Spearfish, SD), Shabnam Jannesari (Hastings, NE), Larassa Kabel (Des Moines, IA), Sarah Rowe (Omaha, NE), Nathaniel Ruleaux (Rapid City, SD), Lee Emma Running (Omaha, NE), Angie Seykora (Omaha, NE), Lauren Simpson (Omaha, NE), Francisco Souto (Lincoln, NE), Christine Stormberg (Omaha, NE), Mallory Wetherell (Kearney, NE), Jave Yoshimoto (Omaha, NE).

Joslyn members can attend this event for free. The cost for the general public is $15, and tickets can be purchased here.
