Leadership Lab: Foundations

  • Midland University – Center for Graduate and Professional Studies 11213 Davenport Street Omaha, Nebraska, 68154 United States (map)

Leadership Lab: Foundations is a two-day immersive workshop designed for emerging leaders and new managers who are ready to grow into their leadership with confidence, self-awareness, and practical tools they can use right away.

Making the leap from team member to team leader is not always easy. Before leaders can develop others, they need to strengthen their own skills in coaching, collaboration, communication, and conflict management. This workshop creates space for participants to better understand themselves, build meaningful workplace relationships, and develop the confidence to lead across industries and career stages.

Participants will explore key leadership topics including:

Enneagram for the Workplace:
Participants will explore how self-awareness and empathy improve communication and collaboration. The Enneagram assessment provides a framework for understanding personality types, workplace behavior, leadership styles, and interactions with team members.

Values-Based Leadership:
This session focuses on identifying and applying personal values to guide decision-making, build strong relationships, and foster accountability and excellence. Participants will learn practical strategies for articulating and communicating their core values.

Crucial Conversations:
Participants will learn how stronger workplace relationships can be built through candid and constructive communication. Using concepts from Radical Candor by Kim Scott, attendees will reflect on their communication styles and explore ways to create a culture of openness and trust within their teams.

Conflict Management:
This session examines conflict as an essential leadership skill. Participants will explore their personal conflict-management approach using the Thomas-Kilmann Conflict Mode Instrument and learn practical techniques for navigating difficult conversations and achieving positive resolutions.

Additional learning topics include collaborative problem solving, goal setting, action planning, reflection, and leadership development strategies.

Facilitators include Nicole Bianchi, Chief Bravery Officer and Tough Talk Expert; Alexander Cayetano, Chief Talent Officer at the Greater Omaha Chamber; Beth Morrissette, Chief Executive Officer of Parlay Consulting Firm; and Rebecca Turner, Chief Integration Officer of Parlay Consulting Firm.
