Public funding can open up new possibilities for a project, but understanding how it actually works is just as important as knowing what funding is available.
Know Your Business: The Public Money Side of Real Estate is a one-hour lunch session led by attorney Justin Tyree, JD MPA, designed to make grants, incentives and public financing easier to understand.
The session will look at the different types of public funding available in Omaha, including tax capture, district financing, grants and housing funds. Attendees will learn what each option is designed for, when funding should be considered during a project and what responsibilities can come with accepting it.
Justin will also cover important requirements such as reporting, deadlines and restrictions, as well as what can happen if the terms of an award are not met.
The event is aimed at business owners considering buying, building or renovating property, developers and investors working on projects, and nonprofit leaders who currently use or are considering public funding.
Lunch is included, and attendees will also take part in a hands-on exercise exploring the funding mix for a sample project. A one-page Omaha Incentive Stack Map will be provided to take home.
Please note that this is a general legal education session and does not provide legal advice for individual situations.
