In-Person Youth Mental Health First Aid

  • Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare 4715 South 132nd Street Omaha, Nebraska, 68137 United States (map)

Adults who work with, support or regularly interact with young people can play an important role in recognizing when someone may be struggling with their mental health.

Join Region 6 Behavioral Healthcare for an in-person Youth Mental Health First Aid course designed to give adults practical knowledge and tools for supporting young people who may be developing a mental health challenge or experiencing a mental health crisis.

Mental Health First Aid USA teaches participants how to identify, understand and respond to signs of mental illness and substance use disorders. The Youth Mental Health First Aid curriculum focuses specifically on the challenges young people may experience and helps adults become more confident in recognizing potential warning signs and knowing how to respond appropriately.

Throughout the course, participants will learn more about common signs and symptoms of mental health challenges, how to approach and support a young person who may need help, and how to connect them with appropriate resources. The training can be useful for professionals, educators, family members and other adults within the community who regularly interact with youth.

Participants who successfully complete the course will receive Youth Mental Health First Aid certification, which is valid for three years.
