Yesenia Peck: Bridging Justice, Leadership, & Inclusion in Nebraska
Yesenia Peck’s journey spans continents and sectors, but the throughline is always the same: service, equity, and connection. Originally from Lima, Peru, she worked as an attorney in the Peru Supreme and Superior Courts before moving to the United States, where her drive to advocate and lead found new forms.
Today, Yesenia serves as Diversity & Inclusion Manager at Nebraska Public Power District (NPPD), helping the utility build a culture of belonging and fairness. Her role reflects a philosophy she lives by: to “put ourselves in everyone’s shoes.” Women's Fund of Omaha
But her influence extends far beyond her job title. She is president of the Nebraska Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (NHCC)—a role she has held after more than 17 years of volunteer service—and in that position, she has used her experience to build bridges between Latino businesses and broader economic networks.
Yesenia also serves as Chair of the Nebraska Commission on Latino-Americans, appointed by Governor Pete Ricketts, where she works to strengthen the link between state government and Nebraska’s Hispanic/Latino communities.
Her leadership is grounded in humility and shared purpose. “I consider myself a servant leader,” she always says, noting that every organization she serves matters because of the people, not the titles.
Yesenia’s educational path reflects resilience and adaptability: when her Peruvian law credentials didn’t transfer, she earned an M.A. from Bellevue University and later a doctorate from St. Thomas University in the U.S., and she plans to pursue law school here as well.
For Yesenia Peck, her leadership is a living bridge between cultures, communities, and ideals, and impact.
