Roger Garcia: Public Servant, Advocate, and Community Voice
Roger Garcia has dedicated his career to uplifting families, youth, and communities through service, policy, and leadership. As a Douglas County Commissioner and Associate Director of Recruitment & Retention, he brings both professional skill and personal passion to the work of building a stronger, more equitable Omaha.
A proud young professional, Roger’s path has been shaped by his commitment to the nonprofit sector, education, and governance. Early in his career, he worked closely with families and youth, seeing firsthand the challenges they face in accessing resources and opportunities. Those experiences deepened his resolve to pursue leadership roles where he could influence systems, not just serve within them.
His work in policy and governance has centered on making sure communities, especially those historically underrepresented, have a seat at the table. As Douglas County Commissioner, Roger has been a champion for equitable services, transparency in government, and policies that strengthen families. He is known for listening closely, engaging constituents with respect, and bringing their voices into decision-making processes.
Alongside his public service, Roger serves as Associate Director of Recruitment & Retention, focusing on education and workforce development. His role reflects his belief that expanding opportunity requires intentional investment in people, particularly in ensuring pathways to education and meaningful careers.
Faith also plays an important part in Roger’s journey. His ministry work has allowed him to connect with families at a personal level, offering guidance, mentorship, and hope.
Passionate about service and rooted in community, Roger Garcia represents a new generation of Latino leadership in Nebraska, one that bridges public policy, education, and direct community engagement. His vision is clear: a community where every family has the chance to thrive.
