KETV Spotlights EPIC for Girls x Omaha Supernovas Event

Story by Xitlally Velasco

We are incredibly grateful to KETV for covering our client’s, EPIC for Girls, recent event with the Omaha Supernovas and helping share the story of what happens when young girls see themselves in the athletes, leaders, and changemakers they aspire to become.

On April 30, nearly 100 girls from EPIC for Girls programs gathered at Hurrdat Sports Bar & Grill in La Vista for an evening that was as empowering as it was fun. Thanks to the generous support of Hurrdat and Hightower Reff Law, attendees met and engaged with players from the Omaha Supernovas, Nebraska’s first women’s professional volleyball team.

The space was transformed with interactive stations where girls took selfies with the athletes, recorded TikTok videos, conducted “tiny mic” interviews, and bonded over food and games. The Supernovas modeled the kind of confidence, kindness, and leadership that left a lasting impression on everyone in the room.

“This event is about creating powerful moments where girls see real-life examples of what’s possible for them,” said Racquel Henderson, EPIC’s Director of Strategic Programs. “When young athletes meet inspiring role models, it ignites confidence and ambition in ways that last a lifetime.”

Thank you again to KETV for helping us share that light with the Omaha community and beyond.
