Free Business Plan Workshops Coming to Wayne and Norfolk This December from NBDC
Aspiring business owners in Wayne and Norfolk will have the opportunity to build and refine their business ideas this December through two free, in-person workshops hosted by the Nebraska Business Development Center (NBDC). The sessions are part of NBDC’s “Blueprint to Business” series, designed to support new and early-stage entrepreneurs across the state.
The first workshop will take place at Wayne State College on Wednesday, Dec. 10 at 2 p.m., followed by a second session in Norfolk on Friday, Dec. 12 at 11 a.m. Both events are provided at no cost, though space is limited.
Organizers say the workshops are built for community members who want practical, easy-to-understand guidance on building a business plan — whether they are shaping a brand-new concept or strengthening an existing venture. Participants will receive instruction on industry market research, competitive analysis, marketing strategy, operations management, and financial projections.
“These workshops are about giving Nebraskans the tools to turn ideas into action,” NBDC representatives said. “A strong business plan is the first step in creating sustainable, community-rooted enterprises.”
For rural communities like Wayne and Norfolk, access to hands-on entrepreneurial support can be transformative. Local business development programs help strengthen local economies, encourage innovation, and empower residents who might not otherwise have access to formal business education or mentoring.
Economic experts note that workshops like these often serve as the launching pad for new storefronts, service providers, and family-owned businesses that anchor small communities. For participants, the sessions not only provide technical skills but also boost confidence.
Registration for both events is now open:

The Nebraska Business Development Center, housed at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, has long been a statewide resource for small business owners, offering consulting, training, and tools to help entrepreneurs navigate every stage of their business journey.
For those considering launching a business in 2025 or beyond, December’s workshops may be the perfect first step.
