1,300 Elite Athletes are Coming to Omaha, here’s why…

Omaha is about to shine on the national stage as the USA Triathlon Multisport National Championship Festival returns June 4–8, an event expected to draw 1,300 top athletes from across the country to Lake Cunningham for five action-packed days of competition.

The multisport festival, presented by Mutual of Omaha, is not only a huge moment for the athletes but also a major win for Omaha’s tourism, business, and sports communities. The festival features a full lineup of multisport events, including triathlon, duathlon, aquathlon, aquabike, and paratriathlon.

Competitions kick off Wednesday, June 4, with an afternoon swim event at 3 p.m. and continue daily through Sunday, June 8. With multiple races, daily awards, and a bustling expo open to the public, the festival transforms Lake Cunningham into a celebration of endurance, athleticism, and community spirit.

“We are thrilled to continue our Multisport Festival in Omaha next year,” Victoria Brumfield, USA Triathlon chief executive officer, told the Sports Travel Magazine. “This event has become an event where we are able to come together as a community and celebrate multisport and our athletes. Whether it’s someone’s first race, they’re coming back to earn another multisport master belt buckle, or taking the opportunity to qualify for Team USA, we’re excited to partner with Omaha to create a can’t-miss racing experience.”

What makes this event so big for Omaha?

For one, 97% of the athletes are coming from outside the metro, filling up more than 3,500 hotel room nights across the city and bringing a significant economic impact to local restaurants, shops, and attractions. Beyond the dollars, it’s a chance to showcase Omaha as a dynamic destination for national sporting events, supported by passionate volunteers, excellent venues, and a welcoming community.

Omaha previously hosted the 2016 and 2017 Age Group National Championships. This year’s events are as follows:

Wednesday, June 5
